Michael Preston

Michael Graduated from The University of the Witwatersrand in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy and from University College London with a Master of Science in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health in 2018. He has 17 years of experience as a physiotherapist in a wide variety of physiotherapy areas, predominantly sports exercise, and rehabilitation in South Africa, England, and Dubai.

During his time in South Africa Michael worked in a vibrant outpatient and hospital practice while working for and supplying physiotherapy services to numerous sports teams including The Springboks, The Proteas, The Kaizer Chiefs, and the Black Caps.

He then moved to England in 2008 to pursue a career as a team physiotherapist in the English Football League. During his time he had numerous roles ranging from Academy Physiotherapist, First Team Physiotherapist to Head of Medical Services with teams including Tottenham Hotspurs FC, Brentford FC, Leyton Orient FC, and Rotherham United FC.

After 10 years of working in professional sport he decided to progress his career in Dubai by working as a rehab specialist and physiotherapist for Emirates Airline. By applying the same clinical and management techniques adapted to aviation to achieve adequate rehab and recovery of injuries sustained to cabin crew and pilots. During his time in Dubai Michael was a regular speaker at The Burjeel Medical Aviation Conference and worked as the physiotherapist for the UAE National Rugby Team over a 5 year timeframe.

Michael has a vested interest in sports, exercise and functional rehabilitation. His process has been redefined over the years to be able to fit most injuries sustained in numerous different sectors.

Michael is a keen sportsman and loves Tennis, Hockey, Squash, Functional Training and Middle Distance Running. During his many years playing sport he has recovered from numerous injuries along the way which helps him understand the process of injury management and progression back to normal function.
